Quick 3-ingredient mix-and-bake easy eggless scones and cheese scones. This is no-butter (no sablage needed) and low-calorie snack for anytime.

Eggless Scones With No-Butter

For 5 scones

Ingredients

    • 1 cup self-rising flour *You can make self-rising flour with 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder (125g)
    • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon salt & 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
    • 1/3 cup heavy cream (80ml)
    • 1/4 cup whole milk (60ml)
    • Extra milk for brushing

Directions

First, in a mixing bowl add in 1 cup of self-rising flour. If you want basic 3-ingredient scones, use only flour, heavy cream, and whole milk. But to make it taste better, I am adding 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt. And whisk until homogeneous. Don’t you have self-rising flour? I have an easy self-rising flour recipe in a separate video. Then make a well in the center of the flour and add in 1/3 cup of heavy cream and 1/4 cup of whole milk. Fold until combined. Yes, it’s quick. No sablage with cold butter is needed for this recipe. The dough is pretty sticky.

Now on the working surface generously dust with flour and transfer the plain scone dough onto the surface. (with a floured hand) Pat out the dough 1 inch thick and stamp out with a 2 1/2-inch round cutter. And transfer the scones to a parchment paper lined baking sheet. You can also cut the scones into wedges. Now brush with milk on top.

Bake in the oven preheated to 430F (220C) for about 15 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown on top.

Voila,

Scones or biscuits? In any case these babies smell great and taste delicious. These low-calorie, eggless, butterless, quick mix-and-bake scones are effortless treat with definitely less guilt. LOL

Enjoy cheese scones by itself or with gravy and have plain scones with jam or marmalade. These are wonderful snacks. I love them.

Eggless Cheese Scones

For 6 scones

Ingredients

    • 1 cup self-rising flour (125g)
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
    • 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
    • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (strong cheddar or mature cheddar) (40g)
    • 1/3 cup heavy cream (80ml)
    • 1/3 cup whole milk (80ml)
    • Extra cheddar cheese to decorate

Directions

In a mixing bowl add in 1 cup of self-rising flour, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of mustard powder. And whisk until homogeneously mixed. Then add in 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Strong cheddar or mature cheddar is good. And stir until combined. If you want, you can add in cooked bacon and onions now. Then make a well in the center and add in 1/3 cup of heavy cream and 1/3 cup of whole milk. Fold until combined. I added more milk to maintain the thickness of the batter with cheese.

Now on the working surface generously dust with flour and transfer the dough onto the surface. (with a floured hand) Pat out the dough 1 inch thick and stamp out with a 2 1/2-inch round cutter. And transfer the scones to a parchment paper lined baking sheet. You can also cut the scones into wedges. And decorate with cheese on top.

Bake in the oven preheated to 430F (220C) for about 15 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown on top.

  1. Thank you for this. I love to bake but prefer something quick that I can whip up in the morning. These fit the bill! I just made them, adding a dash of vanilla and some dried cranberries and pecans. They came out tasty, but salty. The second 1/2 teaspoon salt is way too much. The amount of salt in the flour is sufficient. Thanks again.
