Chewy chocolate chip cookies with wrinkles. Also with the same cookie dough make Oreo stuffed cookies and M&M’s cookies all at once and double the fun!
Hi, I’m Eugenie. Today I’m making chewy chocolate chip cookies with smile wrinkles.
There will be a few tips for you to succeed in chocolate chip cookies. And also there will be a few variations with Oreo cookies, M&M’s, and white chocolate chips.
How to Make Chocolate Chip Cookie
For 12 cookies
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature (113g)
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips, dark or semi-sweet
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (or your choice of nuts: walnuts, macadamia, almonds, peanuts, etc)
- Oreo cookies and M&M’s for variations
Directions
First, in a sifter I will add 1 and ¼ cups of all-purpose flour. If there are too much flour, cookies won’t spread, so measure the exact amount by spooning the flour in a measuring cup and leveling it off. And add in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. And sift the dry ingredients. And whisk to combine. Set aside.
Then in a bowl of 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter, I am adding in ¼ cup of granulated sugar and 3/4 cup of packed brown sugar. Again, it’s packed brown sugar, so to measure it correctly, add the sugar in a measuring cup and press down with fingers. And cream together until light and fluffy. As you probably noticed, I used more brown sugar for the chewy texture.
Then add in 1 egg and 1 and ½ teaspoons of pure vanilla extract. And whisk until homogenous.
And add half of the flour mixture and fold until combined. Then add remaining half and fold until homogenous.
Finally fold in ½ cup of dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips and ¼ cup of chopped walnuts. Walnuts are optional.
And with an ice cream scoop, scoop the batter and spoon out 1 or 2 teaspoonful of cookie dough out of the full scoop. This amount will make a decent sized cookie. Then arrange on a cookie pan. And for Oreo cookies, I will place a spoonful of batter on a cookie pan. And slightly press down with a Oreo cookie on top. And top with about two teaspoonful of the cookie dough, which will not spread very well by the way because there is no heat from the bottom. So it’s important to cover the whole Oreo with cookie dough. And as for M&M’s cookies, decorate M&M’s all over the cookie dough. And if you want smile wrinkles, chill the cookie dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes and up to overnight.
Now I will bake in the oven preheated to 345 degrees F. (175C.) for 8 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies spread and slightly dark brown on the edge. Be careful not to overbake.
And let cool on the pan for 5 to 10 minutes and transfer to a wire rack and completely cool.
Voila! Chewy chocolate chip cookies.
And here go the M&M’s and Oreo chocolate chip cookies. Oreo cookie covered with chocolate chip cookie dough.
Bon appetit. Follow the directions carefully and enjoy delicious chewy chocolate chip cookies. And also remember the cookies are the best the next day.
