How to make homemade Starbucks mocha Frappuccino with this quick and easy recipe

Forget about heading to Starbucks for coffee fix and make your own mocha Frappuccino at home!

Homemade Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino

Today I’m making homemade Starbucks mocha Frappuccino. Mocha Frappe is one of the best sellers and one of my favorites, if it is not my fave. Remember this how-to is a copycat clone, not Starbucks proprietary’s recipe. But this is a very close mimicking copycat. So why not try homemade version to save time, money, and most importantly yourself with this delightfully yummy cup of Frappuccino. Does it take 1 minute to make this? Yes!

Ingredients to Make Mocha Frappuccino

Can you believe it takes only 5 ingredients to make this iced coffee beverage? What you need is only: coffee, milk, sugar, ice, and chocolate syrup. And of course if you want whipping cream will give your homemade drink a perfect look and feel. Be sure to check the variations below to suit your needs as Starbucks offers options for your service at shops.

Coffee: Espresso is recommended but as long as your coffee is strong enough espresso, all sorts of preparation is acceptable including drip coffee, instant coffee, etc. Don’t hesitate to use decaffeinated coffee since decaf perfectly suits this recipe.

Milk: You can use your choice of milk. Starbucks outlets offer six options, three dairy and three non-dairy alternatives: full cream whole milk, 2% skim milk, non-fat milk, almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk.

Sugar: Choose any sugar of your choice: table sugar also called granulated sugar is most common. Granulated sugar will be easily mixed since this recipe requires a powerful ice blending machine. Alternatively vanilla syrup also can be used for cold drink like this.

Ice cubes: 1 inch x 1 inch normal sized ice cubes work perfectly.

Chocolate syrup: I used Hershey’s ready-made chocolate syrup. If you don’t have one, you can make this at home only with cocoa and sugar at home.

Whipped cream: I used ready-made Dairy Whip whipped cream for this. Even though you can used homemade whipped cream but portion-wise for drinks I use a supermarket bought product.

Blend until the ice has been broken down and the frappe is nice and thick, but not thin. A heavy duty blender or ice blender would be perfect for ice blending.

Blend all ingredients until nice and thick.

Transfer to a large cup and serve with whipped cream and additional chocolate syrup, if desired.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots espresso, chilled (or 80ml strongly brewed coffee)
  • 1/3 cup milk (80ml)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (8.3g)
  • 1 cup ice cubes, large
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup (30ml)
  • To serve: Whipped cream, Chocolate syrup

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add 1 cup of ice cubes, and add 1/3 cup of chilled espresso. Today I used Nespresso Roma capsules but strongly brewed coffee works as well. Just make sure your coffee is chilled.
  2. Add in 1/3 cup of milk (any milk you want: full-fat, low-fat, soy milk, etc), 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup.
  3. Blend for about 30 seconds, or until smooth.
